Saw this rolling on the highway in North Carolina today. My boss (who was driving) and I spent several minutes speculating on how the damage was caused on both sides in the middle of the cab of the truck.

Seems pretty easy to figure out. A front end loader or other p iece of heavy equipment pushed it out of the way and into something on the other side.

My theory was similar, but based on the impact markings on the passenger side and the fact that the damage extends to the step made me think that a box truck or car carrier backed into it on that side, and pushed it into something on the other side.
It’s just weird to me that it is so symmetrical, that the object on the other side was in the middle of the cab .

I can’t see a good view of where exactly it is on the drivers side, looks like it’s more rearward, on the back of the cab instead of the center, but you’ve got a better view of it. I don’t typically bother to guess, since I’ve got quote a few good dents in some of my vehicles that you couldn’t even begin to figure out the circumstances that led to them if you didn’t see it first hand. I’ve even stumped some work colleagues that were looking at it (a dented trunk lid put there with a lawnmower) . Another theory is that it was two completely separate incidences.

It’s a 4WD truck though, so go list it for sale at $30k and someone will buy it.

I can tell you with almost complete certainty insurance totaled the truck and they bought they bought it back to serve in this capacity for many years. Out of pride and continued reactions it draws they’ll keep it on the road.
